Metalpoint Drawings
Athena's Gift Series
For these drawings I chose a title with ambiguity, “Athena’s Gift”. Are they gifts from the Greek Goddess behaving in her role as a patron of metalwork weapons (if I consider a metal stylus as a weapon in defense of beauty)? Or are they gifts to her and the characteristics she represents, such as wisdom or courage? Even surrounded by the completed works in my studio, I still don’t know.
